Akron, Ohio—Feb. 2, 2022—Organizers of the International Tire Exhibition & Conference (ITEC) 2022, the largest tire manufacturing exhibition and conference in the U.S., have named Ellis Jones, Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, as keynote speaker. In its 15th year, ITEC 2022 is scheduled to take place Sept. 13-15, 2022, at the John S. Knight Center in Akron, Ohio.
In his extensive 32-year career with Goodyear, Jones most recently served as the Senior Director of Global Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability before assuming his current role. A proven change leader, Jones led the lean cultural transformation of the Race Tire Manufacturing division as Manufacturing Director, turning around a struggling division to improve savings, decrease waste and improve profits, lead times and quality.

A biennial event, ITEC 2022 is a three-day show and technical conference featuring more than 65 presentations from top-level tire industry experts covering topics such as sustainable materials; new technology for non-pneumatic tires and smart tires; next-generation reinforcing material for rubber compounds, challenges and opportunities in tires for electronic vehicles and much more.
This year’s event will also feature two special add-on events, including a special Women’s Breakfast and Panel Discussion on Thursday, Sept. 15. The Tire Mechanics Short Course, a five-day educational and developmental course that provides engineers and scientists with an in-depth, intense study around developments related to tire engineering is also returning again this year. Those who complete the course will receive a certificate from The University of Akron.
In addition to conference sessions, show organizers will also award the Harold Herzlich Distinguished Technology Achievement Medal. The honor recognizes innovators in tire manufacturing, tire reliability or performance. The award is named after Harold Herzlich, a longtime technical editor of Rubber News. Herzlich is also chairman emeritus of ITEC.
Registration for ITEC 2022 is now open online and provides free entry to the exhibition until August 12. Starting August 13, a $50 exhibition entrance fee will apply. View the registration fees for the conference, Women’s Breakfast and Tire Mechanics Course, here.
ITEC organizers are currently accepting abstract submissions for the 2022 conference. Papers must be technical in nature. The submission deadline is Friday, April 22, 2022.
