A New Coupling Technique: DiPLEXOR - The Simultaneous Dynamic Mechanical and Dielectric Analyzer – For Monitoring the Damage Development of Static Sealing Elements
Speaker: Dr. Horst Deckmann, Business Field Manager Rubber & Tire, NETZSCH Analyzing and Testing

Horst Deckmann

Sealing elements are used in technical applications to prevent mass transfer between two components or coupled volumes. The sealing elements undergo continuous changes in operating and environmental conditions. They are subject to natural, thermo-oxidative or mechanical aging processes. Consequently, there might be a requirement to substitute the seals after a certain time. In other words: Living time is a problem. Exchange in time is mandatory to avoid a leakage damage at reasonable costs. Early exchange means shorter periods and higher expenses. Simultaneous DMA and DEA is monitoring the damage status of the sealing element. This presentation on a new coupling technique will be followed by a lively Q&A.
