Inaugural ITEC Tire Dealers/Auto Service Show Well Received by Dealers, Attendees
Attendees to the first stand-alone ITEC Tire Dealers/Auto Service who were looking for ways to increase their profitability found it on both the show floor and in the educational sessions. There were opportunities to meet with exhibitors offering everything needed for a successful tire dealership or service shop, including tires, aftermarket tools and equipment, and even information systems. Conference programs were also solution focused, and included sessions on “Maximizing Profits in the Service Bays,” “Best Practices for the Service Manager at the Front Counter,” and “Social Media and Rubber ROI: Smart Strategies to Increase Revenue through Facebook.”
Educational highlights of ITEC Tire Dealers/Auto Service included the nine panel presentations on special topics such as High Performance Tires, Retail Tire Dealers Best Practices, and Commercial Tires; and the TPMS and Customer Service Round Tables. Many attendees also took advantage of the Internet Marketing Panel, where those new to the world of social media could learn from tire industry pros how to use it effectively.
In addition to the great exhibits and programs, everyone was talking about the networking cocktail reception sponsored by Cooper Tire & Rubber, the nitrogen powered ice cream chill out sponsored by Orange Electronic, the prize drawings and the surprise pizza party.
We hope that you were able to join us for this important industry event.

Calling Young Tire Dealers: Volunteer to participate in ITEC panel or suggest
issues you would like to have addressed
One of the many new features at the 2014 ITEC Tire Dealers/Auto Service is the Young Tire Dealers Panel. For young people working in family-owned and independent tire dealerships, the challenges include not only trying to grow the business in an increasingly competitive marketplace, but taking a greater leadership role in an existing business, how—and if-- to keep up with rapidly changing technology, even if there is a future for an independent tire dealer. The chairmen of ITEC Tire Dealers/Auto Service and panel moderator Jeff Wallick, Director of Training & Development for K & M Tire, would like the input of young people working at independent tire dealers.

ITEC show to split into two events
AKRON – The International Tire Exhibition & Conference (ITEC) is splitting into two events for 2014, with the retail and commercial tire dealer portion of the event heading to Orlando, Fla., and the tire manufacturing end returning to Akron.
In 2010, ITEC expanded beyond its traditional tire manufacturing focus to encompass the entire tire industry, staging the event at the International Exposition Center in Cleveland. That event, and another in 2012, drew thousands of tire professionals to the trade show, educational program and networking opportunity. The trade show and conference is organized by Tire Business and sister publication Rubber & Plastics News (RPN).
