ITEC Scholarship & Charity Program

ITEC is emerging as a show that supports the tire industry through a $20,000 donation program that will be distributed to state/provincial tire associations’ scholarship programs and tire manufacturing companies’ charities on Wednesday, September 18, 2012 at ITEC’s Networking Cocktail Reception.

Denise Kennedy
David Zielasko, Editor/Publisher of Tire Business, Publisher of Rubber & Plastics News, and VP Crain Communications, the organizers of ITEC.

“This donation of $20,000 is a great way for ITEC to contribute to the tire industry. This is an opportunity for tire associations and the top managers at manufacturing, technical, production departments at tire companies to hold their annual meetings or key department meeting in conjunction with ITEC. The more people registered as a member of a state/provincial association and from tire manufacturing companies will increase the chances of their association or company participating in the $20,000 (or more) ITEC scholarship and Charity donation program.”

Distribution of money from the ITEC Scholarship Program will be based on the top three tire dealer state/provincial associations that send the most members from their association to ITEC 2012 based on badge pick-up as of Wednesday, September 19 at 3:00 pm. Checks to state/provincial association presidents will presented to those associations’ scholarship fund.

Distribution of money from the ITEC Charity Program will be based on the highest employee attendance from the top three tire manufacturers at ITEC 2012 based on badge pick-up as of Wednesday September 19 at 3:00 pm. Checks to the tire manufacturer’s charity funds will be presented to the designated officials from the companies.

The $10,000 in scholarship money earmarked for the association segment and the $10,000 earmarked in charity donations for the manufacturing segment could grow even larger through matching funds as aftermarket companies and suppliers will be invited to become sponsors in the program.

Chris Harris, ITEC’s Aftermarket Sales Director and Associate Publisher of Tire Business.

“The tire dealer associations stand to gain additional members as they encourage dealers in their states/provinces to join their organizations, attend ITEC and in turn become one of the associations to receive a substantial contribution to their scholarship funds. Especially today, when many students are struggling to pay for college tuitions, this donation from ITEC could mean the difference for some of them attending college, or not.”
